Student of Medical Physiology and Therapeutics at the University of Nottingham
Director of Media and Finance at the National Society for Education, Mentoring and Media
I am a highly motivated, enthusiastic and hard-working A* sixth-form student, volunteer, and former Royal Air Force Cadet. I’m a musician, full-stack developer and programmer; with a passion to create human-centred designs.
Throughout my education and career, I have demonstrated high levels of motivation, leadership, work ethic, communication and teamwork.
I achieved top grades at GCSE grades, and I now use my knowledge in Computer Science and other subjects to teach others, founding a not-for-profit design and entrepreneur hub allowing young designers, musicians and entrepreneurs to promote their own talent.
This year, I received an offer at the University of Nottingham, School of Medicine to study Medical Physiology and Therapeutics.
Below is a summary of my current and previous work-experience.
As a 111 Health Advisor, you provide telephone triage and advice to individuals seeking medical assistance. With empathy and knowledge, you assess symptoms, provide guidance, and direct callers to appropriate healthcare services, ensuring their well-being and peace of mind. However, I had to leave my in-person job in order to attend university.
Volunteering with an educational not-for-profit movement – NSEMM (incorporating Tutor Eagle), I mainly took the role as an animator and website developer; creating the website for both Tutor Eagle and Programmatic Flying and designing digital graphics and animated videos.
I currently provide advice for young people, aged 11+, in how to get into university, college or employment. I also aid in the tutoring side of the company, teaching numerous students for GCSEs and A-Levels.
I am currently working with a lecturer at Imperial College London to provide training in BSL for young people to give deaf people a voice.
I devoted over a decade honing my musical skills. My exceptional commitment and talent were acknowledged with the esteemed post-nominals SMISM (Student Member of the Incorporated Society for Musicians) – I am now Adrian Angol-Henry, SMISM.
This recognition signifies my musical excellence, unwavering passion, and the invaluable experiences gained throughout my time at the GSMD Centre for Young Musicians..
I supported Ashford Mediation Service, creating and managing their website, creating marketing material, and creating and uploading content to social media platforms.
I also aided in the creation of a new extranet allowing mediators to work from home during the COVID-19 lockdown. This system, still used today, utilises Microsoft ActiveDirectory and self-built WordPress plugins to allow the systems to work together.
I had meetings with multidisciplinary teams, including with the Kent Police Commissioners’ Office about different local schemes and how to implement them technologically.
I designed and installed a music studio wireless system, networking the office and studio. I also created the website for Elements Bound, as well as developing an intranet.
I volunteered as a music technician, working with Nathan James Dearden and Ehud Freedman to record concerts and performances. These concerts, held at venues across London were recorded and produced through the of digital audio workstations like Logic Pro X.
At Christ Church and St. Stephens’ Battersea, I worked with numerous musicians in the local community visiting different care homes. I learnt more about working within the care system, and performed the piano and sung for numerous residents at care homes around London.
Volunteering with nearly every department, I mainly assisted with product testing. I gave insight into the design and prototyping of a few of their products, visiting a 3D printing workspace in Bethnal Green, London. I was also casted – and composed music for – a number of their adverts, including one for the Kano PC.
My time here has included testing various features of the software before it goes live, together with being part of several weekly Friday meetings.
I am attended two schools, a full-time sixth form and a specialist music Saturday centre. I have received an offer to read Medicine in 2022.
I am an Student Engagement Associate, Course Representative and first year Medical Physiology Student at the University of Nottingham Medical School at Derby
With a strong aspiration to pursue medicine at the graduate entry level, I am currently a dedicated student of Medical Physiology and Therapeutics at the University of Nottingham’s Medical School at Derby. Seeking to deepen my understanding of the human body and cultivate essential skills, I am preparing myself for the rewarding journey ahead in the world of Medicine.
I studied Biology, Geography and Music.
After being a prefect and music ambassador in Year 10 and 11, helping run many extra-curricular events and open evenings, I am now in sixth form. Throughout the sixth form, I take on a few responsibilities, like being on the Inclusivity and Diversity Committee for both Culture and LGBTQ+ awareness.
I also use my skills from Tutor Eagle to create resources similar to this one for different important dates at school.
I am a first-study composer, and take singer-songwriting and music technology electives.
Under the instruction of Nathan James Dearden and Ehud Freedman, I have written numerous compositions for numerous mixed ensembles including full orchestra and chamber choir. I also study singer-songwriting taught by Dr. Sorana Santos, a musicologist at Royal Holloway, University of London. I write many different styles of song, including acoustic alternative and hip hop.
I am currently in the process of writing a musical theatre project, possibly workshopped by the EAST 15 Drama School – part of the University of Essex – in the future. More news will be available on this in the future.
As CYM is a recognised Centre for Advanced Training in Music, I have been given the numerous opportunities including:
As part of my programme at CYM, I also study Music Technology and Engineering, where we delve into acoustics and sound design as part of a greater course run by the centre.
